Investment opportunities / Tourism industry / Svanstein – where Sweden, Finland and the Polar circle meet
Svanstein Resort, which is already an existing ski resort with 16 ski slopes and 4 ski lifts, has so far only been able to attract day visitors. These have mainly consisted of Swedish and Finnish visitors. The new concept means a five-star hotel with a focus on international tourism. Among other things, the hotel will consist of 120 hotel rooms, spa facilities and a high-quality restaurant with local food. In addition, 20 suites will be individually placed around the area where each unique location will have its own story to tell.
Invest in Norrbotten has been helping Svanstein Resorts AB with developing an investment prospectus to attract international investors. Since then, the ownership group has grown, both by international investors as well as by national ones. The journey to find more investors continues.
The hotel will reflect a peace and harmony that we hope visitors will appreciate after a day on the ski slopes or on any of the other activities that will be offered. The suites that are placed in the middle of nature will also be of a very high standard where the feeling of being in the middle of nature is enhanced.
– All buildings must harmonize with nature and therefore every choice of material becomes important for the overall impression, says Björn Arvidsson, partner at Svanstein Resort AB.
Right now, the only thing missing to realize the investment is capital. Invest in Norrbotten has helped Svanstein Resort AB with the development of investment prospectus to enable it to attract an international investor. The total investment is expected to 180 million SEK, of which SEK 120 million SEK will be contributed by external private investors.
– Over the past year, we have strengthened our ownership group of both national and international investing. We are starting phase two of the investment round where the new concept will be described in our investment prospectus, Björn continues.
The tourism industry in Finland and Sweden has for some years been experiencing strong growth. This is expected to develop positively which indicates that the time is right to make an investment.
– We have a strategically important location with proximity to the Finnish market. We believe that an international high-quality accommodation in a calm and harmonious environment, where the already existing downhill skiing combined with our unique nature experiences will attract international visitors. We continue to work hard to secure the capital and we hope to open the new hotel in December 2020, Björn Arvidsson concludes.
