The development of new, green energy sources continues to advance through radical research and far-sighted investments.
More than 1100 wind turbines are under construction in Markbygden in Piteå municipality. The project is managed by Svevind AB in collaboration with Enercon. The planned investment is SEK 50 billion.
Cutting edge research into biorefining technology is being carried out at Solander Science Park in Piteå.
Vattenfall AB is investing SEK 5 billion in the region with a focus on infrastructure, wind power and a future electricity grid.
