Boden Municipality

Boden has changed from a secret military and medical care town into a modern small town. Boden is centrally located in a relatively populated area of Norrbotten. More than 27,000 people live here, and another 170,000 live within a 48 mile radius. There are very good transportation links and a well-developed IT infrastructure. Luleå Airport, located about 40 minutes from Boden, is one of the nation’s busiest airports.
Boden has long had Norrbotten’s best business climate. Businesses evolve and new ones are established. Boden works closely with business organizations to facilitate economic growth by providing consulting services, efficient permit processing, fast land development, financing solutions, and new networks.
The tourism industry is an important part of Boden’s economy and includes top-notch attractions such as Treehotel, Storklinten recreational area, Nordpoolen indoor water park, Western Farm, and Rödbergsfortet Fort, which has led to increased trade in Boden. Since the Enter galleria shopping centre was built, a wealth of new businesses have opened downtown and in the commercial areas just outside of town.
Environmental awareness and green industries are also big in Boden. There are waste incineration and biogas plants in the area. Many municipal vehicles and local buses run on biogas from Boden. North Waste Infrastructure is a central project for developing a common platform for environmental technology business development in the region. Special focus is on recycling of waste products.
Boden has all the advantages of a small town, like closeness to nature, a rich social life, and the ability to live well at reasonable prices. There are many educational opportunities at municipal and private schools. For those interested in advanced studies, Luleå University of Technology is nearby.
